What personal data do we collect and why?

This website is intended to inform you about Chip Zero’s program topics. Chip Zero is an ecosystem program managed by Picosun Oy with support and funding from Business Finland. This Privacy Policy describes the ways in which Picosun Oy, Tietotie 3, FI-02150 Espoo, Finland, (in the following “Picosun”, “we”, “us”) collects, holds and uses information about individuals who visit this website.

The collection of personal data is based on either a written consent, a contract, a legitimate interest (duties related to the client relationship or performance of services) or a legal obligation.

We register information about our website users and potential interests which we collect upon contact via e-mail, through our website’s contact sheet or in events such as business meetings and trade fairs. This information consists of names, e-mail addresses, company name, title/role and phone numbers. We may send newsletters to inform you about news in our network and upcoming events if you have signed up to receive such information. The option to opt-out of receiving marketing communication from us is provided in every communication.

We collect personal data from and about you as follows:

Personal data you provide. “Personal data” is information relating to a directly or indirectly identified or identifiable natural person such as your name, email address, company name, role/title, or telephone number.  Picosun may request, or provide you an opportunity to submit, personal data.  For instance, we may ask information necessary to verify eligibility to use a website service, collaborate, or to facilitate dealings or transactions.  While under no obligation to provide us with personal data, you should understand that we will not be able to process your communications with us or render certain services that we offer without this information.

How do we protect your information?

We use the personal data we collect for purposes as described above, to meet our legitimate business interests and for other necessary purposes as permitted by applicable law.  This includes responding to your requests, inquiries, or otherwise serving you in ways associated with the circumstances under which we collected the information.  We do not use your personal data for Picosun’s marketing purposes unless you affirmatively agree or opt-in to such usage.  Marketing may include sending you communications about our products and services or other communications targeted to your interests.  If you do not wish us to use your email address or other contact information for our direct marketing purposes, do not select the opt-in option (if any) in the online form in which we collect your data.  You can withdraw your consent at any time by replying to a promotional email we have sent and indicating your preference to unsubscribe, or clicking the “unsubscribe” link provided at the bottom of any electronic marketing communication.  You can also send us an email stating your request to info@picosun.com. Additionally, we may use your personal data to execute an agreement or transaction concluded through the website and to meet Picosun’s legal obligations with regards to the agreement or transaction.

We use information we collect automatically through logging and cookie technologies for legitimate business interests, to facilitate your use of our website, detect against fraud, security, or technical issues

Data Retention

Your personal data is retained for as long as necessary to accomplish the purposes for which it was collected unless otherwise required by applicable law.  In some instances, we may be required to retain personal data for longer periods of time to comply with legal requirements under applicable law, for example, to meet tax and accounting obligations. 

How do we disclose or transfer your data?

In principle Picosun does not transfer or disclose any personal data it collects to third parties. However, we may from time to time disclose, transfer or allow access to personal data within companies belonging to the same group as we do. We also use third parties as our service providers as well as subcontractors, who may sometimes gain access to our data (including personal data). In such cases we always ensure that sufficient security measures are implemented, and that we only use vetted service providers and subcontractors, who are known to have implemented appropriate security measures.

If we transfer your personal data to external companies in other jurisdictions, we will make sure to protect your personal data by applying the level of protection required under the local data protection/privacy laws applicable to Picosun, acting in accordance with our policies and standards and, unless otherwise specified, only transferring your personal data on the basis of standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission. All transfers and disclosures are done only on need-to-know basis and always in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

Data Retention

Your personal data will only be stored by us for as long as is necessary to achieve the purposes for which the data was collected or - insofar as statutory retention periods exist beyond this - for the duration of the legally prescribed retention period. We then delete your personal data. Only in a few exceptional cases may your data be stored beyond this period, e.g. if storage is necessary in connection with the enforcement of and defense against legal claims in favor of Picosun.

Security

Picosun has implemented measures designed to secure your personal data from accidental loss or unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure.  However, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure.  Although we use industry-standard efforts to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of the information transmitted through our website.

Our website may include links to sites operated by third parties.  This does not mean that Picosun endorses these sites, nor are we responsible for their content or policies.  Third party sites are governed by their own privacy policies.  You should familiarize yourself with the privacy policy of other sites you visit as it will govern any information you provide through that site.

Our website uses only cookies that are necessary for the website to function properly and cannot be switched off in our systems.
